Amarante Restaurant, Paris, 12/5/15

A really new place with a la carte options as well a 3 course fixed price at lunch. The latter seemed to be the main choice however we wanted to try some options not on it.  It is fairly small but offers friendly and efficient service. It’s very moderately priced and open for lunch on Saturday. The very nice crispy pork starter was like a slow cooked pork made into a patty and then fried to a crispy exterior. The veal brains were cooked perfectly creamy and delicious.  The lamb leg was slow cooked and served with a wonderful parsnip puree that was exceptional. The huge piece of sweetbreads came with mashed potatoes and was nicely done. The potatoes had just the right amount of richness and both main plates had a flavorful and gelatinous sauce.  For dessert, the grilled pineapple was light, sweet and perfect for someone not craving a huge sugar fix whereas the chocolate mousse was worthy of bowl licking.  Good simple food done well.
