The Highroller Lobster Company is a good sized very casual place.  The menu featured Maine lobster in numerous formats but also has burgers, salads and hot dogs.  A number of their options come with a container of sauce.  They offered a number of locally made beers also.  It had a combination of booth and counter seating.  A counter where you enter takes your order, gives you a number flag that you place on the table and then they bring you your food and beverages.  You pay at the same counter on your way out.  The people working there were friendly and service was very efficient.  We tried a couple things and then went back to the counter and ordered a couple others so we could try a number of their offerings.  Also tried several of their local beers.  This place gets lots of people but I saw it more as a lunch/snack place than a serious dinner option.

The Lobster Roll was on a brioche bun with Romaine lettuce, fresh Maine lobster and a choice of sauce.  We tried the lime mayo to go with it but I preferred the lobster ghee.  It was a nicely toasted soft, fresh bun stuffed with lobster chunks from the various parts of the lobster.  It was extremely simple but also very good.

The Crab Roll was also on a brioche bun with Romaine lettuce, fresh Maine crab and a choice of sauce.  Here we got the lobster ghee which is a drawn butter with hints of shellfish.  This sandwich was also nicely stuffed with fresh pieces of crab.  It needed a pinch of salt but that’s easy to add.  Again, it was simple done really well.

We drank their fresh brews of Goodfire Waves and Oxbow FPA. Both were only okay in my book but nicely cold.

The Fried Lobster Pop was fresh Maine lobster tail on a stick, breaded with cornbread batter and served with a choice of sauce.  It was a nice chunk of lobster inside but the breading was way too much for me.  It was too thick and and a tad gummy.  We tried the Jalapeno Mayo sauce with this one and it was good but not very spicy.

We hit the jackpot with the Lobster Grilled Cheese which was on English muffin toast stuffed with Jarlsberg and Cabot and fresh Maine lobster.  It was divine and definitely my favorite of all we ordered.  It was gooey and nicely stuffed with perfectly toasted bread.  It didn’t come with sauce but didn’t need it.

The Definitive Fallstreak was the beer we tried with the second round of items and it was also nicely cold and a bit less fruity than the Oxbow.

  1. When I was reading the menu, the grill cheese peaked my interest….I’m so glad that you had it because it looked and sounded fantastic. I would have thought the lobster corny dog would be good but it was easy to tell by looking at the crust that it was too thick. I bet it would really be good with a thinner batter that would cook better…..We Texans do love our corny dogs! Fletchers! That Frankie sure gets around!

    1. I too had high expectations for the lobster dog – they need to get breading instructions from Fletchers! LOL! Also glad I tried that grilled cheese – it’s the sort of thing I’ll dream about having again some day! For a little cat Frankie does get around.
