This moderately sized place has numerous tables along with a long bar and they need them all. Popular and fairly fast, as their name would indicate. Very attentive and efficient service made it a pleasant place but the noise level was moderate. We started with the bone marrow which was excellent, three large bones-enough to share. We also had the chicken liver pate, on the waitress’ recommendation and it was smooth and tasty but nothing new. The pistachios added a nice crunch but it really could have benefitted from a topping of jelly.  Oddly it didn’t come with nice toasts but they did have cornichons and mustard for the table.

The tomato salad had nicely strong flavored tomatoes in a variety of forms and it didn’t need the extra olive oil they brought to the table.  The hanger steak came cooked as ordered, a nice rare. It almost seemed more like a ribeye cut as no vein was present. Really tasty meat and the incredible butter topping melted into the fried to make a scrumptious plate. The fries were crispy and their accompanying mayo tasted housemade but I hated to cover any of their fine taste and texture. For dessert we tried the caramel ball that was filled with meringue and surrounded by creme anglaise. The exterior caramel had been cooked to a hard crack state which made it difficult to get through as well as eat. The textures were a lovely mix but the flavor quotient didn’t measure up. The maple sugar pie was also okay but the crust was not the buttery flake needed and the filling was a bit more set up than the one we had previously. Overall not a strong flavor but acceptable for a sweet fix. Fill up on the savories here!
