Cioppino’s, Vancouver BC, 11/14/14

This is a hot reservation in Vancouver and it was buzzing the night we were there. The chef as well as other “quality control” people roam constantly from the dining room to the open kitchen. Our waiter was particularly fun and was eager to suggest other places we should go during our stay.

I think if I hadn’t been so stuffed from lunch it might have seemed better, but as it was I left a lot on my plate. The pine mushrooms were a nightly special and as I love something new I tried them. As verified the next night, they’re not my favorite – kind of a resin taste that wasn’t appealing- but if they’re your thing, these were fresh and served with wonderful arugula. I found both pastas to be a tad too al dente for me and the pesto didn’t have the punch I’ve grown to love in it. Portions are generous and they’ve got a nice selection of Grappa for after dinner. Overall a pleasant experience.
