Another repeat place for us with good results. There are a couple seats out from but the main dining room is in the back and holds about 10 tables. They have tasting menus but seemed that you could also order by the dish. We talked with the waiter about what we had last time and then turned the chef loose to surprise us. While you’re making your selections they bring out a bowl of blood sausage with pumpkin to munch on with olive oil bread. The bread was excellent and the topping tasty.

The staff has fairly limited English so sometimes we asked a couple folks about explanations of what we got. We started with a potato salad that was dotted with carrots and roe. It tasted very fresh but I would have sworn there was fish in it but best we can figure it did not. Next was an anchovy over a surprise that turned out to be steak tartar. Not my thing but good for what it was. The asparagus on the next course were a true find. The white were nicely cooked but the thin green were wild asparagus with a taste I’ve never had before. Much stronger tasting with a bit of bitterness but lush with nutty buttery tastes. They alone were worth coming for! Then our request which was every bit as good as we remembered – stewed artichokes covered with fried ones. The pork cheek came with mashed potatoes so buttery and smooth you didn’t care about the cheek meat! The pistachio tiramisu was a nice twist on a regular favorite but the rice pudding was divine! Like melted vanilla ice cream with a perfect sugar crisp on top. Sometimes repeat visits are a good idea and this one was!
