What a fun surprise this place was! A large place that’s been open around five and a half years. Jack Allen has a several restaurants around Austin, TX and this one seemed to attract families as well as folks of all ages. The waiter was most helpful in making our selections.

He first brought the tasty smoked pimento cheese and light, crispy chips to eat with it as an amuse and it did start the meal off right.

We then tried the queso dip was studded with tasty bits of tender pork and topped with a pile of freshly smashed avocado.  We ordered salsa to go with but in hindsight I would just ask for the rack of spicy sauce as the salsa was way too mild.

These sauces were also needed to ‘heat’ up the green chile gravy that accompanied the chicken fried beef ribs. The waiter smartly suggested getting the gravy on the side and that helped keep the wonderful coating crisp throughout the meal. I was unsure about ordering this but with the waiter’s gentle push I made a great decision cause the beef was fork tender and filled with flavor and the coating was an ungreasy as I’ve ever seen. It was a stuffer though, so no room for dessert and I bet that would have been a winner too!
