A small two level restaurant where you definitely want to ask to eat in the cozy downstairs. They are fairly busy yet the friendly staff makes you feel relaxed even though they don’t mess around in getting your order filled.

We started with the bread and burnt onion butter that turned out to be more butter covered with a charred powder than the expected caramelized onion. The butter is whipped so it spreads easily on the crusty bread. It was a nice surprise.

We split the salad for a second course and the crab was plentiful and very fresh tasting. The seaweed added a nice bitter contrast to the sweet dressing but was not so strong as overwhelm the crab. The other vegetables had a lovely smokey taste to add to the mix- a real winner!

We chose the Spanish sirloin for 2 and it comes with a wonderful plate of potatoes covered with cheese, onion and slices of pickled walnuts. It was a wonderful combination and the flavors blended well with each other. The beef was delicious and cooked a perfect rare with a nice charred exterior. It was simply seasoned with some salt and was a burst of beefy flavor with every tender bite.

We tried 2 different desserts. The lemon tart is made fresh everyday and is quite tart but when paired with a bit of the sweet cream it made a tasty end of the meal. The chocolate ice cream was served with a divine sauce and toasted hazelnuts and was a perfectly delicious dessert. It was a true success!
