Paris Coffee Shop is a large bright space that get lots of mention as a good lunch spot in Fort Worth and you could tell by the number of people coming and going. It offers quick service and inexpensive pricing which also attracted a fairly senior crowd.  It has a large menu but most of it is covered with ads. The waitress directed us to the Daily Special menu, from which she suggested we order.

 

We chose the small lunch of fried chicken and creamed gravy which came with 2 vegetables, rolls and cornbread. You can make it a “regular lunch” and get 3 vegetable options. The chicken was a dark meat quarter which allowed it to stay nicely moist and the coating was a great crisp without being greasy. The creamed gravy had a nice taste and good texture. It also was on the mashed potatoes which were fine but nothing special. The English peas were a generous portion but very much canned. The collard greens were also okay but not worth finishing. The wheat rolls had a nice heavy dough center and were fun to coat with the honey provided on the table. The cornbread was fine but not strongly corn flavored.

 

They offered a variety of pies for dessert that looked wonderful. We tried the coconut cream and although it did look great it did not taste the same. I have a hard time telling you what was wrong cause the texture was nice but the crust did not taste homemade and the filling just had a weird taste and the topping was really off. Get the special here and don’t let looks temp you.
