Twin Gables is a large place right on Highway 2 that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner but the hours vary daily except for opening at 7:00 am and being open at least till 2:00 pm, so I’d check their website if you’re looking for dinner. There is a nice sized dining room when you enter that is a combination of booths and free-standing tables and a back room with less tables but counter seating at a bar. The third room looks like it could host a buffet line and there is a glass enclosed counter with pieces of their various desserts. Windows are on two sides so there is lots of natural light during the day. A large menu has all the standard breakfast foods and lunch is mostly burgers and sandwiches. They also have daily specials. Food is simple and homey and service is efficient and friendly. We visited twice to try their breakfast and lunch offerings.

Pancakes were thick and large but well cooked. Syrup was thick and sticky. Pure maple syrup was not offered as an option. Eggs were cooked properly and the yolk stayed runny. Bacon was a tad greasy but did have flavor.

The omelet was stuffed with ingredients and served with your choice of potato and toast. They are a build-your-own, so you pick what goes in your omelette from the choice of ingredients and the price varies therby.

Their Patty Melt sandwich was topped with fried onion, American and Swiss cheeses and served on marble rye bread. It comes with chips and a pickle or you can substitute fries or rings for an upcharge. I chose to have the chips. The sandwich had the beef fairly well done, but I had not asked for rare, and had lots of onions and cheese. The rye was an interesting twist on the sandwich and added a strong caraway flavor. I liked the end result. The bread was nicely toasted and not too greasy and the cheese was well melted. I’d get it again.

The Ham, Turkey and Bacon Club was a huge sandwich and well stuffed with ingredients. Two kinds of cheese were also in the sandwich. For this one we had fries which were hot and crisp but of the frozen variety. It was a tasty combination.

I checked out the dessert counter but couldn’t get inspired but I will say the house made cinnamon rolls are huge.

Like the snowmobiles in the parking lot.
In the warmer times it’ll be ATVs.
