Owners Tracie Millett and Lavon Gomes opened Salty Girls Seafood Company in 2018 but were constantly asked about fish and chips which they did not have room to fry in the kitchen. So they added a location a block away to serve just that. Right now the original shellfish bar is in the heart of downtown Sequim and the FnChips is in an old Episcopal church a block away, but the plan is to move the shellfish bar closer and add a music area in the future. For now it’s a short walk between and worth it to visit both of these places. Both have indoor as well as outdoor dining options and the Salty Girls had a full bar where as FnChips had beer and wine. Inside was a long bench matched with bare wood tables across from coolers with a variety of drinks. Salty Girls has a long bar where the fresh oysters are iced and some high top tables. Both places had super friendly people with a few more interesting decorations at the Salty Girls. I don’t think you could go wrong with anything on the menu at either of these places and hope you’ll try them when you’re in the Olympic Peninsula.
FnChips
FnChips features fresh fried cod or halibut when available and chowder that won a local contest for best chowder on the Peninsula. The fried fish comes with a healthy supply of fries and slaw and we were lucky to be there when halibut was available. The kitchen was nice enough to put it on 2 trays for us. The fish was moist and hot with a wonderful light crisp coating. There was tartar sauce but honestly I just wanted to savor this all by itself. It was a fabulous rendition – as good as anything we had in Alaska. The fries were a larger dice with good crisp outsides and creamy potato inside. I understand they worked at getting these just right so they’ll even stay crisp in a to-go order.

Salty Girls
At Salty Girls we split a half Dungeness crab with drawn butter and toasted bread. The crab was perfectly cooked with a wonderful sweet flavor. The huge claws hold a lot of meat which is fabulous dipped in the tasty butter. A mess to eat but well worth the trouble. They had a wonderful array of raw oysters but held off to be able to eat dinner.

Oh this all looks so darn good!!!
Thanks! It was!
