The Captain Freeman Inn is a bed and breakfast in a restored Sea Captain’s mansion near Breakwater Beach. It has 10 rooms and is run by a delightful young couple with experience in the hospitality industry. You can’t go there for breakfast unless you stay there but I wanted to share what we had with my readers as Cape Cod has many options for dinner but few in the same town. I found this to be a good location to get to many places of interest, beaches, and restaurants. The breakfasts were were mostly made by Jason while wife Laurie brought out the food and beverages. You eat on the screened in patio overlooking the pool and some of the gardens. The breakfasts were enough to keep you satisfied all day while also being tasty and composed of local products when possible. Laurie is also helps with baking. This is a place I’d recommend when visiting Cape Cod.

Menus are posted the prior afternoon and alternate between sweet and savory although you can always custom order if you don’t want their plan. I didn’t get a photo of the first day’s menu.
Griddled blueberry bread was delicious. It was coated with butter before lightly griddled.

Scrambled eggs with cheese and scallions over fingerling potatoes with green peppers and onions. It was a wonderful combination with the eggs kept moist and the potatoes cooked to a nice crisp.

Peach cobble brioche French toast with sausage was tasty without the syrup. Lovely peaches with just enough sweetness added to the mix.

Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut was interesting as it was not fried but rather baked. It didn’t get greasy that way. The texture was cakey and it had a nice amount of cinnamon sugar on top.

Zucchini, bacon, caramelized onion and gruyere frittata was nicely moist with the bacon being softer rather than crisp. The crisp came with whole grain toast that had butter and housemade raspberry preserves to go with it. A really nice plate with a bit of hot sauce added.
