Antiche Carampane, Venice, 4/10/14

Quickly becoming a favorite spot for us in Venice, this small cozy place is really hopping. They do about 2 seatings per evening. We’ve found that the best way to order is not from the menu but just to ask what are the specials and which fish is freshest and get that. They have particular fishermen that bring just to them.

The tiny fried starter shrimp come out hot, crunchy and sweet – a delicious way to get started and it kept that pace throughout, finishing with the chocolate ice cream and pear desserts. Only empty plates went back to this kitchen!
