There are several locations of Neighborhood Services and each have a different ambiance and menu. This is the one on Lovers Lane, the original location. It is always fairly crowded and the reservations are suggested so you don’t have to wait for a seat at this medium sized place. The noise level is a fairly loud but that is just part of the buzz of the place. They have a full bar which turns out some great cocktails and small but changing wine list. The waitstaff are all friendly and helpful. We had Chad this evening and he really makes your meal a fun event.

They offer a special for each day as well as changing noodle and fish dishes. I’ve eaten there numerous times and recommend their Fried Little Asparagus as an appetizer as well as a chicken liver paté that is not currently on the menu. The Wedge My Way salad is big enough to split and really good. They also offer a really tasty Bacon Cheeseburger and Pork Chop.

This evening we started with the ceviche of the day, halibut with avocado. It is nicely diced and the avocado is smashed underneath the fish. It is served with a nice crisp and corny flavored chip. It disappeared pretty quick.

For main dish we had the Big Chopped Steak and EZ Egg. It was a tasty piece of beef and the arugula salad and cheese complimented it well. The fresh cut fries are well seasoned and are crisp and taste of potato rather than grease. It was a good dish but I think if you don’t mind getting messy the Bacon Cheeseburger is just as tasty and a better value. We added brussels sprouts to the meal. They are seasoned with pancetta and maple and are almost a dessert instead of a vegetable. Even out of season they are not to be missed.

For dessert we had Fried Pie and its only fault was I could have eaten a whole one myself! The crust was tasty and apples cooked perfectly. The rich, dense ice cream made it a lovely summer dessert. Each dinner bill is presented with chilled mints.
