Anglers Bar & Grill is a large place located on the main shopping strip in Hayward. It has a huge patio, that was crowded with people, a good sized interior with tables, booths and a large bar. There is also an old bowling alley which was not in use when we were there. The place goes back to the 1930’s when it was more of a gambling and drinking establishment. Inside it is covered with cases of hunting and fishing trophies as well as old photos and memorabilia. Service was efficient and friendly and there were lots of children.

They offer a huge menu, much of which sounded interesting but we settled for one of their 6 ounce all-beef burgers. The meat was nicely juicy and generously topped with smoked bacon, however the bun was a bit dry and not toasted. The bun really needed to be toasted to get rid of the cotton of the bun. The onion rings were okay but of the frozen variety. The fries were frozen but very crispy, however that was from the coating rather than a double fry.
