Alder Wood Bistro was in a house-like building with several rooms open for dining and a large patio and a good amount of parking around the building. A few booths and lots of tables made up the seating that had music in the background, sound absorbing panels on the ceiling, art for sale on the walls, lots of windows to the outside and decorations scattered about. There was a full bar and a nice wine selection. The food was billed as “the finest local, organic and sustainable produced ingredients”. They have a wood fired oven for pizzas and offer a gluten-free cauliflower crust as well as noting what other menu items are vegan or gluten-free. Their menu also had a number of nightly specials as well as drink specials. I would go back, it was pretty good, and the service was super.

Food
A nightly special was a Local Strawberry Daiquiri made with Beanstalk Farm strawberries, Panama rum, simple sugar and lime. Our server said she knew the girl who grew the strawberries and buys them herself. It was a nice drink but more fruity (marvelous strawberry flavor) than alcoholic. A fun change from the usual Negroni that my husband chose.

Sausage, peppers and onion wood-fired pizza used Chaurice sausage, pickled peppers, caramelized onion and quattro formaggi for toppings on the red sauce 12″ pizza. First, it had an excellent crust. Chewy with a nice small puff on the edge and good balance with the rest of the pie. The sausage had tons of flavor and the pickled peppers were a fun difference yet added a good amount of spice and contrast with the sweet onions. It was quite good. Don’t miss a pizza when you go.

Steak Frites was grilled a Country Natural pasture raised 6-ounce flat iron steak topped with blue-cheese and tarragon butter and served with fresh-cut French fries, aioli and sauteed local greens. The sliced nicely cooked beef was on top of the greens mixture. It had a good char on the edges of it and wonderful flavor especially with the tasty butter. The fries were a smaller cut with good crispness and soft potato inside and a tasty aioli for dipping. The greens were a mix of cabbage, onions, chard and maybe kale and were lovely with the pickled onions as was the meat. It was so good we filled up and passed on dessert.

Not a dacquiri person but that looks good!
Me either but the local strawberries had been so good I had to try it. It did have great fruit flavor but very low potency.
