Breakfast is offered in the same room as dinner at the Troutbeck. In the morning the room is much brighter and music was in the background. The room has a dark wood floor, art on the walls and small tables to accompany the bench seating around the perimeter. Breakfast is not included in your stay and overall was a bit pricey for what you got. Dinner is what you want to get here but you can’t challenge the convenience of eating on the property. The food and service were both fine but it might be better to get a pastry from their pantry or head to town for coffee and whatever. It’s a short meal so I’ve included a couple photos of the other rooms in the lodge where you can relax and enjoy your $5 drip coffee.
Set-Up

Food
The breakfast sandwich contained 2 fried eggs, bacon, cheese, pickles and Kewpei. It came with Upstate hashbrowns, which are a secret recipe of the chef. They had a totally crisp exterior and finely grated interior. The sandwich was on a sesame seed bun, and one egg was cooked much harder than the other. The thinly sliced pickles were very dilly and not at all sweet. They added to the mix nicely.

The Black Emmer pancakes came with Laurel & Ash maple syrup and I added a side of bacon. The pancakes came 4 to an order with medium thickness. They came with a smallish container of syrup and there was no butter on the table. They were a bit dry and really needed the garnishes to make them work. The bacon was very smokey and a generous portion but then it was $7, which seemed like a lot. It was tasty but had varying levels of crispness.

I’d like to try the hash browns. Kewpie on a breakfast sandwich sounds odd, but maybe I’m too biscuit-centric
The hashbrowns were different – being in a rectangle and so crisp outside. Surprisingly I wasn’t a huge fan turning down additional bites as they were on my husband’s order. I liked the bun in that it didn’t crumble like biscuits often do, but I’m with you they speak more of breakfast to me. They were trying to be fairly different with the pickles and Kewpie and change is hard!
$5 drip coffee…
This place was way overpriced for breakfast.
