Bar da Dona is a large place located in a striking architectural building. One side of the interior is a bar and service area opposite of which are windows to the street. The bare wood tables are set closely with black napkins and padded armless chairs. The large menu is supplemented by some specials written on a chalkboard above the bar that is decorated with illustrations and lots of decorated cats. Also above the bar were windows to what looked to be a supplementary kitchen. People were lined up to enter before it opened and were a group varied in age and dress. Inside music was in the background, lots of photos and other decorative items on the walls and friendly servers with passable English bustled to service the many tables. At the entrance was an open air patio that was also filled by the time we exited. It was a great lunch or dinner, if you wanted to eat it later.

We ordered some of their caipirinhas to go with our Classico Da Onca Filé ao molho poivre and capellini na manteiga and sálvia or pepper steak with pasta. The meat was tender and cooked perfectly as ordered. The server brought out extra cheese to grate on the pasta which was also wonderful. The pasta also blended well with the tasty sauce on the meat. There was a yellow spicy sauce which also could be added and it was terrific.

A side of beans were tender and tasty, also good with the extra yellow sauce.

Some sautéed vegetables included a good assortment of fresh and perfectly cooked broccoli, carrots, peas, tomatoes and on and on.

For dessert the server recommended a jar with bananas, dulce de leche, fudge, caramel corn ice cream and whipped cream with 2 spoons. It was wonderful. Good flavors, lots of textures and a great sweet ending for a meal.

He also brought out 2 shots of a creamy coconut milk and vodka drink from him. They were terrific.
