Mexican Restaurant offers authentic Mexican food with many parts house made.  It was a small place with half dozen tables and doing a healthy take out business    They serve no alcoholic beverages and charge an extra fee to pay with a credit card.  Service was efficient and friendly. If you find yourself in the Mendocino area and want a tasty Mexican fix, this would be a great choice.

Food

Thick corn chips and mild salsa arrived quickly.  The chips were fairly thick with good corn flavor and the salsa was mild with the a tiny bit of kick.

We ordered guacamole and chips which was very flavorful.  The mashed raw avocado was mixed with pico de gallo and lime and served with tortilla chips.  It was freshly mashed but could have used more pepper, but that’s my taste.  It was good.

The Gorditas Plate was composed of 2 gorditas with your choice of filling, cheese, pico de gallo, salad, rice and beans.  The gorditas were made with wonderful thick corn tortillas and we chose carne asada, steak marinated, grilled then diced and Al Pastor, pork shoulder marinated, spit-grilled then diced for fillings.  Both were nice but I did prefer the pork

The Chile Relleno plate came with a large battered roasted poblano pepper stuffed with cheese, served with tomato sauce, salad, salsa, rice and beans.  The pepper had a tasty thick skin that held a ton of cheese.  The sauce on top softened the breading but it all just melded into tasty bites.  The beans were well mashed and dusted with a bit of white cheese.  They were good whereas the rice was a throwaway.  The salad was there and fine if you wanted to mix it in.
