The Delta Diner has been visited by Frankie several times and today she found some new items on the menu to try. Our last visit was about burgers and before that, the Tap Shack but today was the main Diner where they serve breakfast and lunch all day. Owner Todd Bucher was back at the front grill and it was fun to visit with him as well as see all the merchandise options now available – so you can take a little Diner with you. Frankie particularly liked the coffee bar where the new blends being roasted on-site are all available for you to try. You simply take your mug up there and pour which you want and I will say there was quite a bit of difference in the flavor profiles. Seating is either in one of the booths or at the counter and you can designate your preference when you sign in. I’m usually ‘first available’ which is probably the counter. There you get to chat with other guests as well as watch the cooking action. It’s also a good opportunity to see other dishes and decide what to order for your next visit. It is out in nowhere but if you find yourself anywhere nearby you should visit. Check their website <deltadiner.com> for their hours as these change with the seasons and staffing. Just a heads – up, they’ll have live music this summer at the Tap Shack which may not have breakfast items but it does have beer and some fun grilled items.
Set-Up

Food
Each day there is a special omelet. Today it included jerk chicken, jalapenos, mushrooms, brussel sprouts, onions and cheese. There was jerk sauce on the side and it comes with Diner toast. It had a nice amount of spiciness to the blend and the sauce added even more. My husband enjoyed it.

We ordered a side of hash browns to go with it. They are crisp and delicious.

Another new item was Bourbon Street French Toast. This was made with slices of bread pudding that were deep-fried and then dusted with powdered sugar. It came with berry sauce, which I asked for on the side, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The berry was strawberry. The ice cream melts into a creme anglaise sort of sauce and is great with it. The French toast was delicious with a nice crisp edge encasing the moist soft center. I preferred it with a bit of syrup or ice cream rather than the berry sauce, but that’s me. The berry sauce was quite good too. There are limited numbers of this plate available but if you can, get it. Yum!

Thank you Helen, Frankie, and of course Charles. Always great to have you part of the “counter creature” crowd. 🙂
You’re so welcome! It’s always special when you are at the grill. And thank you for all you do for the Delta area and the Wisconsin dining scene!
Helen, have you ever seen the Delta Diner episode of Wisconsin Foodie? If you haven’t, it’s available on WF’s YouTube channel.
When I first saw it I realized that Todd and I use the same method of burger meat prep!
Thanks for that info and I have seen it several times! We are good friends of the owners and our second home is very near there. Have you been to the Diner? You should plan a weekend trip and eat dinner at the Tap Shack. They’ll have live music one night. Check their website for current hours and plans. Let me know if you go and I’ll buy you a beer if we’re in town ! Again thanks for your comment!
