Los Tacos No. 1, NYC, 5/6/26

Los Tacos No. 1 was created by 3 friends who wanted to bring authentic Mexican tacos to the east coast.   They did a superb job keeping their product simple and fresh and now have multiple locations around the city.  There was no seating and a line to order but it moved quickly and choices are limited so that helps.  Once you order and pay you take your recipt to the line of “taco makers” and they assemble your order after asking if you want corn or flour tortillas.  There was a station with hot sauces and pico de gallo which one of the employees was nice enough to point out to us.  From there make a beeline to whatever counter has a space for you to put your drink on while you eat some fabulous tacos.  Limes were on the counter where you picked up your tacos and napkin dispensers are located on many counters.  They sell no liquor or beer but have lots of sodas as well as bottled water.  Our mouths left with a wonderful glow – you should try one of their branches when in New York City.

Food

The Carne Asada or grilled steak was good with lots of flavor in the meat.  It blended well with the sauces to give it some spice.  We chose corn tortillas for both and they were tender with good corn flavor.  All come seasoned with onion, cilantro, salsa and guacamole.  This was great but didn’t have the depth of flavor that the pork did.

The Adobada or marinated pork was cut off a rotating spit as it was ordered.  It was divine.   The meat was tender, bursting with flavor and juiciness.  It really went well with the sauces and it’s the one we’d get if we ever go back.

    1. LOL! You’re good! It was so crowded and chaotic that she stayed in my purse. I think I was afraid she’d get into the sauces, so she took a catnap. Sorry about that, but a good catch!

    1. OMG! I can’t believe how good the pork ones were. Such simplicity done extremely well! Happy Fourth of July to you and your family!
