The Olney Place is on Keuka Lake and not only has a great deli but a small seasonal market for items you might need while staying around the lake (open May to October). Seth Olney purchased the property in 2006 that had served as Froggy’s General Store since the 1930s. He tore down the old structure and build a new place. There is plenty of seating indoors as well as the bar area that overlooks the lake. Outside tables are also available and they offer dockside pickup for boats that come by. The market sold various food stuffs and souvenirs but mostly you remember the colorful murals that cover the walls and even the bathrooms. Opening early every day you could make this a breakfast stop or even an early dinner. Their sandwiches were good but they’re known for cinnamon rolls which sell out early. They also are worth the trip. Friendly staff are welcoming and helpful. I’d go again.
Set-up

Food
The Mustang sandwich came with ham, salami, provolone, curly green leaf lettuce, tomato, banana peppers and oil and vinegar on an 8″ roll. All the sandwiches come with a bag of Utz chips. The sandwich was nicely stuffed and tasty but could have used more seasoning or dressing. The bread was nicely soft and in good proportion to the stuffings.

The Rachel was made with hot turkey, Swiss, their own cole slaw and Thousand Island dressing on grilled marble rye bread. The slaw was in dressing and I’m not sure if they added more but it was pretty drippy at the end. It was on nicely browned and tasty toast but I missed sauerkraut and the bite it gives a Reuben. This one was thick with fillings and tasty enough.

The cinnamon roll was a star. No icing, raisins or nuts but instead a good dough bursting with thick cinnamon rings and then drizzed with a caramelized sauce. Oh my this was divine. The dough was not as yeasty as others but the seasonings were just so scrumptious you didn’t care. Go early so you can try one.

I’d go for the cinnamon roll!!!! Love the picture of Frankie, so cute!
Thanks! The cinnamon rolls were scrumptious- with a bit of caramelized goo on the outside! Too delicious!
A great report on a place that looks perfect for lakeside. And the cinnamon rolls!
Thanks! Luck was with us to discover this gem. We went for sandwiches and I got the roll as an afterthought, as I’d seen mention of them. Lo and behold it was one of the best I’ve had!
